A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hello there , and a very warm welcome to my personal website.

I am assuming that you are looking for a way to earn online, either part-time, or would like to take that step and start a completely new career – often very scary, I know !

I was in exactly the same situation, not so long ago, but before I go any further, let me tell you a little about me.

My name is Barbara Blevins, and I live in Cowes, on the beautiful Isle Of Wight with its stunning beaches and relaxed lifestyle !

I work from home, as a member of the Six Figure Mentors, teaching others how to become successful online, and transform their lifestyle.

I haven’t always lived here – I had an idyllic childhood in Kenya where I was born and raised with my two brothers and sisters and other family members.

My father owned a very successful Safari / Deepsea Fishing company and most weekends were spent either in the game parks or driving to the coast . Looking back – what BLISS !

Dad and I

Much later, the family uprooted and we spent several years travelling throughout Europe and Australia before returning to the UK.

Now in my late 50s, commuting regularly to London was exhausting and stressful .

I loved my work in the Advertising Industry – the sense of achievement and income it provided, but it came at a cost!

At weekends, I would be catching up on paperwork for the week ahead.

Yes – I had a great income but the reality of losing it all was a constant worry – how much longer could I cope with the commute and challenge of always having to be one step ahead of the game.

That all changed in August 2008

I had already spoken to several highly successful online marketers already earning substantial incomes, working just a few hours a day, but more importantly,  making huge changes to their lifestyles !

I needed to create a passive income– a successful business that, over time, would require less and less day-to-day involvement while still generating a considerable income.

With a dwindling pension, pretty bleak future, and years of the same ahead,   I had to make a decision, and with absolutely no previous experience in online marketing, I gave in my notice, and began a completely new career path.

It wasn’t easy ! In fact I struggled for months alone, often on the point of despair , until I realised that without a mentor I was never going to achieve success.

Fortunately, I was able to join a very well-respected mentoring group, with constant support -crucial for most of us in the early stages.

Where Am I Now ?

Early mornings on our beach in Cowes !

I work the hours I choose, spending more time with family – friends from London are here at weekends !

I enjoy growing my business and sharing my knowledge with people willing to take that step .

About Me And My Interests

I am lucky enough to have the time to enjoy my Aromatherapy – I originally trained with Robert Tisserand, and now treat regular clients and friends on the Island.  I often get asked to give courses on how to blend oils  for home use, and teach stressed – out mums, so watch this space…..

I am a real foodie, and love to cook for friends – any excuse, and they’re over here , infact , most weekends now!

The Boathouse at Steephill Cove – my favourite restaurant!

We are very lucky , as the Isle Of  Wight grow and produce so much here – most people are surprised when they see our award-winning cheeses in Harvey Nichols and garlic , tomatoes, oils, etc. all sold on the mainland.

In Summer we go fishing regularly – we just pack a coolbox and head out for the day!

Shopping for clothes – don’t come here unless you’re into sailing !   We do have a few small select shops here, but London is where I go once a month for a couple of days, and catch up with old friends .

In case you didn’t know, Liz Earle has her Head Office based in Ryde, and her lovely shop in the High Street – she now sells her range of skincare for men and women all over the world, and through mail order.

I do intend to do a regular blog  – best restaurants, boutique hotels, places to visit etc.,  so do keep an eye out !

In the meantime, why not check out the Islands “Official Independent Guide” – myisleofwight.com , where you can find hotels, holiday breaks and events.  Newly launched is their Facebook and Twitter , where you can leave comments.

If you are planning a visit and would like to get in touch, or get a few tips before you arrive , just give me a call – I would be delighted to help.

If you would like to keep an eye on some of the forthcoming events  and news on the Isle Of Wight , just click on this link !

I do hope this will inspire you , and show you that you can also achieve success and enjoy the lifestyle you deserve.

I am currently working with people from all walks of life – complete “newbies” to the Internet/Online Marketing Industry, MLM’ers struggling to grow their businesses , and entrepreneurs needing to market online more efficiently.

  1. Hi Barbara, Great site. I love your story and one I see repeated. As a fellow within your community it really is a fantastic place to be and what a fantastic industry it is. I love the friendliness of those I choose to work with, while care has to be taken to avoid the sharks.

On a seperate level I understand your love of The Island. My Dad lives there these days, but over the other side at Sea View. He loves the sailing which is fabulous down there, and is a regular over at your little regatta each year.

    Best Wishes

    Russell

Thanks Russell- very kind of you !
Always good to hear from fellow members of Six Figure Mentors, and glad you share my enthusiasm for the Island ! Yes it is a little behind the times still, but a lot more happens here than people realise, and we have some great restaurants, boutique hotels springing up, successful businesses becoming known -just a lovely place to live. As for the secluded beaches – I could go on and on !
